Q&A: Is there a Forex Trading indicator that shows “in real time” how many pairs are being traded?
Nov 22nd
Question by larrynpn: Is there a Forex Trading indicator that shows “in real time” how many pairs are being traded?
Is it possible for one to manipulate the price of a currency pair by selling or buying a huge amount? I don’t want to buy a huge lot and the price goes down because my own trade made it go down. I don’t want my own trade to change the price trend because if I buy more than is actually being traded on the market, it more likely will go in the opposite direction I want it to go.

If you are placing your trades with a market maker, then large trades may have a significant impact. If on the other hand you are placing trades with a broker that is operating STP unless your trades are unusually large they will likely cause little impact.
Since the forex market has no central exchange, there really is no way to know accurately how many or what pairs are being traded globally at any given moment.

Q&A: Why is the stock market dropping lower and lower with Obama?
Nov 20th
Question by Joey R: Why is the stock market dropping lower and lower with Obama?
Ever since Obama has been president, the stock market has been dropping lower by any administration that Obama has done. I don’t understand this. Why is this happening. I’m really scared now because I’m afraid America might be heading into a depression.

This economic slowdown has been building up for tens of years. It was not caused by Clinton, Bush, or Obama. In a market economy there are slowdowns. Imagine if the economy ran perfect all the time, it is impossible. These corrections are natural and will play out their course. There are many possible things to do to fix it. I personally believe we should let it fix itself because this is a market economy, not socialist where the goverment is involved all the time. It will get better, this same thing has happened in 1929, 1987, etc..

Forex trading question about mini accounts ?
Nov 19th
Question by kazoo20: Forex trading question about mini accounts ?
I am interested in learn more about forex trading and possibly after some research opening a mini account to start small. I have visited a few websites and something I dont fully understand is How can it be advertised that you can open and start trading Forex with a minimum deposit of say $ 250 and then the it says the minimum trading deal size is $ 2500 ? I don’t get it

Answer by cainvest1
FX trading is not for the small investor. You likely will lose your investment very quickly.
Think of the other side of the trade. In your example of $ 250 investment, the ‘broker’ that will open such a small account is really just out to collect money from you.
You can’t check the interbank or get real time FX rates without a sizeable investment. The rate you get quoted from the ‘mini broker’ is often a made up rate that is wide — in and in favor of the broker. When you attempt to close your contract the fees and wide spread will wipe out any profit.
My advice is to steer clear until you have enough capital and experience to trade contracts with a reputable brokerage that will require a minimum capital level.

Q&A: How is it that Obama inherited a failing stock market from Bush ?
Nov 17th
Question by JL: How is it that Obama inherited a failing stock market from Bush ?
The facts clearly show the stock market on a steady climb from 2004 – 2008 until the election of Obama. The facts also show the market climbing from Bush’s election in 2001 until it dropped after 9/11. The numbers just don’t lie folks.

yeah but i don’t get it, why would someone want to buy a “baseball card” in the first place?
Best answer:
Answer by Ryan M
Think of it as one giant baseball card selling market. You buy a card for a certain player. You hope that the player does very good, and the price of the card goes up. When you want to sell the card, you need to have a buyer willing to pay the price you want to sell. If you do not have a buyer for your price, the card (or stock) does not get sold…unless you lower your asking price. The great thing about stocks is that you can NEVER lose more money than what you spent. A baseball card is never worth negative. However there is no theoretical upside to how much the stock can be worth.

Depending on the broker, there can be lots of differences. For one, I have seen some brokers really increase their pip spread right before news announcements.
Perhaps the bigger issue though will be how you will react psychologically when trading real money vs trading paper money. For me, that was the biggest thing to overcome.

I wish I had a couple of months available to respond. I suggest you go to the library and check out some of the many books they have on this complex topic. No one can do justice to that question with a 30 word response.
